As many will now know I sell a few bits on Ebid.net and also take part in the forums. I am currently running a poll to find what is the forum users favorite Christmas single,. The poll will run until Christmas Eve when I will post the final result both there and here on my blog.

The thing that has fascinated me so far is the difference between songs chosen by people on different sides of the "pond". There are all the usual favorites that we hear all the time over here in the UK, then a bunch of  songs that I had never heard of before from the U.S. members. So I thought it might be fun to post a few of those along with some of the more unusual Christmas hits, before going back to our own Christmas chart hits.

So let's start with this one " I want a hippopotamus for Christmas" by Gayla Peevey

Several country artists have recorded Christmas hits, here are a few of them,

Eddy Arnold "Jolly old Saint Nicholas"

Gene Autry "Frosty the Snowman"   Hank Snow "The Reindeer Boogie"

Johnny Horton "They shined up Rudolph's nose"

Then there are also Reggae Christmas hits

Yellowman "We wish you a Reggae Christmas"     Jacob Miller & Ray I "Natty no Santa Claus"

John Holt "Lonely this Christmas"

And let's not forget the soul brothers and sisters who have given us Christmas classics.

James Brown "Soulful Christmas"          The Supremes "My Christmas Tree"

Luther Vandross "This is Christmas"      Aaron Neville "Please come home for Christmas"

Finally for this blog, how about some Metal...........

Trans Siberian Orchestra "Carol of the Bells"

Lynyrd Skynyrd "Run run Rudolph"                      Joe Satriani "Silent night"

 Twisted Sister "White Christmas"

So I hope you enjoy listening to this wide range of Christmas tracks as much as I did compiling them, and if you want to join in all the fun we have over at Ebid.net then click the link and join
