It's amazing where the days go as you get older. Now in my sixty first year I can understand what my dad meant when he said time flies by when you get older.
My mantra for many many years has been to listen to music of some kind every day. My choice of music is very varied and will rarely be the same day after day. It could be anything from my lifelong passion of folk to seventies pop from my DJ days and anything in between. Having built up a large collection of seven inch vinyl singles alongside hundreds of compact discs, I also have many vinyl LPs and hundreds of 78 records.
I have recently decided to catalogue my singles collection, having once done this back in the seventies before selling off a greater part of my collection when starting up with "Diskits" the former music store ran by myself and my wife Jenny. It is going to be a long slow process, but one that will be great fun, coming across records i'm sure I have forgotten about. Also I continue to add to the collection most weeks.
I still have a few records from my original collection and have managed to replace a huge amount of those I sold, but I still have many many more to replace.
As some people have said many times collecting records is an obsession and I must admit it is, though one that has given me immense pleasure from the age of 4 when I got my very first record player, a little plastic kid's model that came with some brightly coloured Pinky & Perky singles.
I have mentioned before some of the early singles I had in an earlier blog .
To finish off here are a few of my singles from my collection, showing the varied musical taste I have.
So you can see I have a pretty varied collection, I will pop back and list a few more another day.
